What do you think about the Queen and the Royal Family? Do you like the monarchy?

I like having a Monarchy rather than a Republic. I like the history and the fact that the monarch is linked to a line of people to whom we can date our country's triumphs and disasters. I like the 'pomp and cirstance' and the traditions, some of them hundreds of years old, that go with it all. The system that the Monarchy is based upon works in both directions. As well as owing fealty and loyalty to the Crown, the Monarch has a duty to protect his or her subjects and to ensure that they are treated justly and fairly. They actually cost the tax payer less than �1 per person per year and in fact the revenue that the government gets from the Crown Estates far outweighs what it pays out in the Civil List. Also, contrary to popular belief, only the Queen herself and her husband are funded by the Civil List.
