Help with a blocked toilet?

I flushed the toilet after going normally, but the bowl filled up with water and the toilet paper is just floating there. I'm 13 and home alone at the moment and I'll be really embarred if I have to tell my mom because the bits of toilet roll have a bit of blood on them. Is there any way to unblock this without calling a plumber? :(
