How bad is too much salt in the long run?

i have salt on just about everything .. toast,saladas, cheese .. etc .. and lets say im eating a bowl of pasta and my bf comes to have a bite .. he has to spit the food out because of how salty it is .. but the weird thing is i can only just taste the salt .. i had a blood test at the end of last year and everything was fine except for the ALP (Alkaline Phosphates) which the dr said was to do with the kidneys .. ???
